Today The 15th edition of the Skopje Film Festival will open its doors for the cinema fans of the Seventh art . Over the next nine days the audiences in Skopje will be able to see a good part of the Hollywood blockbusters and the films that captured the attention of the critics at the last film festivals in Cannes, Venice, Toronto and Berlin.
The film „Restless“ by the director Gus Van Sant, a story about a friendship between a boy who goes to funerals of strangers and a girl with an terminal disease, will be shown at the opening evening of the festival in the cinema Millennium. Within the Gala program there will be an opportunity to see the the films like „J. Edgar“ a biopic drama about the controversial director of the FBI, directed by Clint Eastwood, „The Ides of March ” with George Clooney, the latest adaptation of “Jane Eyre”, “The Rum Diary” with Johnny Depp in the leading role and” Trishna” by Michael Winterbottom.
A list of the festival films will also be on the programe like “We need to talk about Kevin”, „Ginger: More than a game“ by the Serbian director Gordan Matic and the film from Montenegro „The Ascent“ with our actor Vlado Jovanovski in one of the leading roles.
According to organizers, the crown of the festival will be the latest film by Teona Strugar Mitevska “The woman who brushed off her tears,” which will be shown at the closing night on 27 April. The well-known Spanish actress Victoria Abril, who plays the main role will be a guest star at the Macedonian premiere of the film, which was previously shown at Film Festival in Berlin.
Within the program „Retrospective“ the Film library of Macedonia will present “Mirror”, “Ivan’s Childhood” and “Andrei Rublev” by the famous Russian director Andrei Tarkovsky and a cycle Japanese movies and Dutch documentaries.
