
Afro-Cuban All Stars
The popular Cuban orchestra Afro-Cuban All Stars and the magical Turkish duo Erkan Ogur and Derya Turkan will be the headliners of this year, eleventh in a row, edition of the OFF-Fest. The festival will be opened on 1st of June with the performance of Afro-Cuban All Stars, a group of musicians led by one of the most influential figures of the Cuban music, the “culprit” for the phenomenon Buena Vista Social Club – the legendary Juan de Marcos.
The second night of OFF-Fest (June 2) is reserved for the guests from Turkey. Ogur and Turkan are considered as driving force of the Turkish music and their music is characterized by the successful introduction of the spirit of the modernity into the traditional melodies of the East. The same evening there will also be a performance of the Macedonian virtuoso, multiinstrumentalist and professor Dragan Dautovski and his quartet.
On 3 of June the audiences will have an opportunity to enjoy the concert performance of the pioneers of post-rock sound, the famous Chicago progressive musicians Tortoise and a solo performance by the indie-pop diva Laetitia Sadier (Stereolab) from United States. On the Festival’s last night on 5th of June, Tony Kitanovski and Cerkezi Orchestra will perform live their new album “Shukarov” for the first time and the festival will be closed with the concert from the attractive desert rockers from Mali, Tamikrest.
All the concerts of OFF-Fest (with the exception of the opening night performance of Afro-Cuban All Stars in Universal Hall) will be held at the Salon of the Macedonian Opera and Ballet. The festival is organized by the Skopje Jazz Festival and the tickets for all the festival nights are already on sale.
