Kefalonia – pearl of the Ionian Sea

Balkon3 camera takes you on a photo tour round one of the most beautiful Greek islands, the pearl of the Ionian Sea – Kefalonia. It is the biggest and greenest Ionian island abounding in extraordinary sandy beaches hidden behind giant rocks. Kefalonia’s most popular and most photographed beach is Mytros, rightfully known as a “piece of heaven”.

Antisamos beach, where some of “Captain Corelli’s Mandoline” beach scenes were filmed, plays a huge role in promoting Kefalonia as a desirable tourist destination. Near Antisamos you can find two impressive caves, Melissani Cave and Drogarati Cave, which are a true natural wonder.

Kefalonia’s capital Argostoli is the most popular place for tourists, as well as other small towns like Lassi, Fiskardo, Poros, Lixouri… Those who wish to avoid loud, crowded beaches can find many small bays where they can enjoy the peace and quiet of the Ionian Sea. As for now, you can feast your eyes on our photo gallery of Kefalonia island.
