That day has come. On August 6th, in the beautiful landscape of the Adriatic Sea, an international premiere of the first documentary film produced by Balkon3 “I am underground” (“Me sijum underground”) will take place at the popular Starigrad Paklenica Film Festival. The film will be presented as part of the Macedonian Week programme during which the audience will have the chance to see 13 music documentaries from Macedonia.
The film festival in Starigrad near Paklenica, running August 2-7, is being held for the fifth time now and has already become one of the most favourite film festivals in Croatia and the region. Its popularity is due to the interesting and quality film and music programme shown at outdoor screenings in the unique atmosphere of Paklenica canyon. This year the opening film will be “The Fall of Rock & Roll” (“Kako je propao rokenrol”) on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the film premiere.
As usual, the festival will be accompanied by an excellent music programme featuring Koja & Trese.Lupa.Udara., The Beat Fleet and Tonci Huljic & Madre Badesa. This year’s jury consists of legendary Macedonian guitarist Vlatko Stefanovski, the Slovenian musician Magnifico and American director, screenwriter and producer Roger Ross Williams who won the 2010 Academy Award for Best Documentary Short with his film “Music by Prudence”.
The short documentary “I am underground” (“Me sijum underground”) is an exciting music story about the most original Macedonian band Shutka Roma Rap, or as we in Balkon 3 like to put it – it is an amusing yet hopeful music story.
