Daut pasha Hamam is a must-visit place for all art and architecture lovers. It is a picturesque example of Islamic architecture built in the second half of the XV century. It is located at the entrance of the Old Bazaar, an area considered to be the historical core of the old city.
It was a men’s and women’s bathhouse for several centuries until after WWII when it was converted into an art gallery. Now it houses the National Gallery of Macedonia with a permanent exhibition of Macedonian artwork from XIV to XX century.
It is the only place where one can follow the development of art in Macedonia beginning from medieval icon painting to contemporary art from the end of the XX century.
