If you want to go hiking in the mountains without putting too much effort in it, if you want to see the largest cross in Macedonia or take a look at Skopje from a bird’s eye view and try organicmountain tea, mark one day in your calendar for a walk on Vodno. It is a mountain, 1,066 meters high, that is literally merged with the city. From the center of Skopje to the mountaineering route, located a few hundred meters above “Koco Racin” schoolit will take about 20 minutes of walking.

The climb to the top Krstovar takes 2-4 hours depending on the speed and the need for breaks. The entire trail passes through dense forest dominated by pine and chestnut. If you are ready to embarkon this adventure, do not give up until you get to the top. There is a mountain lodge, where you can drink hot tea and get a better view of the 66-meter-high Millennium Cross. There is an option for not so active people too. You can get to Sredno Vodno (midway to the top) and get on the funicular that will take you to one of the tallest buildings in the country in just two minutes. The Cross was erected in 2002 in honor of the new millennium and 2000 years of Christianity in Macedonia. The Millennium Cross shines at night and is seen from almost all parts of the city.
